Job description

As a WordPress R&D Specialist, you will play a crucial role in researching user needs, analyzing competition, identifying interesting use cases and features, and helping our development team understand them before and during the development process. 

Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that our products, meets and exceeds user expectations while outperforming the competition.

Your Responsibilities:

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough research on user needs and preferences, staying up-to-date with industry trends and market demands.
  • Analyze competitor products, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and use this knowledge to inform our development process.
  • Discover and document interesting use cases, features, and enhancements based on user feedback and market research.

Product Design Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the product design team to brainstorm and contribute to the creation of a beautiful user experience for product.
  • Provide insights and suggestions for improving the visual design, usability, and overall user interface of the plugin.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure that user requirements and research findings are incorporated into the design process effectively.

Development Support:

  • Collaborate with our development team, providing insights and guidance during the development process.
  • Help translate user requirements and research findings into clear specifications and actionable tasks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions to enhance the overall functionality and user experience.

Quality Assurance and Acceptance Testing

  • Participate in the quality assurance process, conducting thorough testing to ensure the product meets high standards of performance, usability, and compatibility.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team to address any issues or bugs that arise during testing.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the product’s performance, comparing it with competitor offerings, and provide recommendations for improvements.

User-centric Approach:

  • Use your experience in building websites as a freelancer or agency team member to relate to user needs and challenges.
  • Act as a user advocate, testing the product from a user’s perspective and ensuring it meets their requirements and expectations.
  • Leverage insights from user feedback and competitor analysis to drive continuous improvement and innovation within product.

User Support:

  • Monitor support channels to identify areas where users need assistance, get confused, or require improvement.
  • Provide timely and effective support to users whenever needed, addressing their queries, troubleshooting issues, and guiding them through the product’s features and functionality.
  • Collaborate with the support team to gather user feedback, identify common pain points, and suggest improvements to enhance the user experience.

Marketing Support 

  • Participate in the social media and community to engage and support our users.
  • Create visually appealing demos and landing pages to showcase newly developed features and functionality of product.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to provide input and insights for promotional materials and campaigns related to the product.
  • Help write documentation and effective changelogs to communicate updates and new features to users and stakeholders.

Agile Methodologies:

  • Learn and adopt agile methodologies for efficient project management.
  • Write user stories, detailing the functionality from a user’s perspective, to effectively communicate requirements to the development team.
  • Manage and maintain the Jira board, ensuring that user stories, tasks, and bugs are accurately captured and tracked throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups to ensure alignment and progress.

You Must Have:

  • Strong understanding of WordPress and experience in working with WordPress page builders and website builders, with particular emphasis on Gutenberg.
  • Experience in conducting user research, competitor analysis, and translating findings into actionable insights for development teams.
  • Solid knowledge of website development processes, including front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills are must, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
